Lost Boys by vampireisthenewblack

Lost Boys by vampireisthenewblack

Carlisle is horrified when his progeny and former lover, Edward, returns after subsisting on humans. He originally left when Carlisle found Esme and was unable to accept that they're mates. When he returns, he brings along a very special gift. Disturbed by Edward's downward spiral into insanity, Carlisle must figure out how to love the fragile vampire and at the same time protect himself and Esme from him.

Talk about an edge of your seat story! I don't want to give too much away, but I can tell you that you won't be disappointed. vampireisthenewblack effectively portrays Edward's madness in such a frightening way that on more than one occasion a chill went down my spine. If you're interested in reading something completely different and engrossing, this story is for you!

Evergreen by ICMezzo

Evergreen by ICMezzo

It's Christmastime and Carlisle is busy trying to create the type of Christmas Edward enjoyed while human. Unfortunately, Carlisle is plagued with feelings of guilt and shame because he continues to have sensual thoughts about the newborn vampire. Not wanting to make Edward uncomfortable, he tries his best to bury them. When Edward reaches out to Carlisle, will he continue to hide his feelings or finally express them?

This is a very sweet one shot that brought a big smile to my face. Carlisle's torment and the discomfort displayed by both characters is so palpable and raw. Saying more would give the story away, but I highly recommend that you check this story out!

Book Review: Needing a Little Christmas by Silvia Violet

3.5 stars

Sweet short story about Eli, who spends Christmas in a secluded cabin in the woods after he discovers his boyfriend cheating. While there, he is "rescued" by the handsome and burly neighbor, Mac, on more than one occasion. The two men share an instant chemistry and soon find themselves fighting their growing attraction for one another.

I thought this was a really cute story. Mac was the perfect knight in shining armor for the Eli, who, after dealing with his jerk of an ex boyfriend, doesn't really feel the Christmas spirit. I enjoyed their interactions and their shy glances at one another were adorable. Even though this is a relatively short story, I wish the MCs could have been a little more developed. Although very likable, they seemed a little one dimensional.

The Politics of Christmas by lvtwilight09

The Politics of Christmas by lvtwilight09 - COMPLETE

Emmett and Jacob are madly in love and have been together for seven years. With Christmas quickly approaching, Jacob only wants one thing: to be out publicly and married to the man he adores. Unfortunately, Emmett is unwilling to fulfill Jacob's wish because he is Governor and must protect his image, both personal and political, at all costs. Will he let Jacob slip away or risk his career for the man he loves?

I really enjoyed this one shot. lvtwilight09 not only portrayed the immense love Emmett and Jacob shared, but also the turmoil both men endured due to Emmett's fears. Even though I wanted Emmett to just bite the bullet and come out, I also understood his point of view. Coming out, especially as a public, political figure can potentially be career suicide. With a good mix of angst and romance, The Politics of Christmas is a compelling and entertaining read.

Book Review: Mending Noel (North Pole City Tales #1) by Charlie Cochet

4.75 stars

Tim is an average elf who feels he is doomed to work in the administrative offices in North Pole City. Even though his father was a renowned toy soldier, Tim really holds no special talents or abilities. This is all made worse by his rude supervisor, Noel, who does everything in his power to make the elf as miserable as possible. When Tim overhears an assassination plot, he and Noel are thrown into an adventure where they discover self worth and love.

I absolutely loved this story! Charlie Cochet put an awesome twist on the Christmas characters we've all come to know and love over the years. My favorite was Rudy, the dashing, red-headed and famous Rein Dear who delivers toys and happiness to kids all over the world. In this world, reindeer do not pull a sleigh; the Rein Dears are pilots who make the deliveries themselves.

  • Santa is not a jolly man who works one day a year, he's actually Mayor Kringle.
  • Jack Frost is the son of the King of Frost and is the third most powerful creature (after the King and Mayor Kringle) in the land.
  • Tim, who is small in stature, but big in spirit, reminded me of Tiny Tim from A Christmas Carol.

Tim is such a wonderful character. No matter what life, or Noel, threw at him, his positive outlook never wavered. Yes, he felt sorry for himself every now and then, but he never lost the Christmas spirit. On many occasions I just wanted to hug the little elf. Noel, on the other hand, is a confused, hurt and broken elf who doesn't know how to handle the feelings he's developing for Tim, so frequently lashes out, berates and humiliates him.

The secondary storyline involving Rudy and Jack Frost was just as charming and sweet. It would be wonderful to see more from these two in the future. In my opinion, Rudy and Jack deserve their own book! Their backstory was just as powerful and interesting as Tim's and Noel's.

My only complaint would be that the switching points of view were a little hard to follow sometimes.

Out of all of the 2012 Dreamspinner Advent stories, I think this is my favorite! I highly recommend this adorable story filled with angst, drama, romance, humor and adventure.

A Different Kind of Christmas by naelany

A Different Kind of Christmas by naelany

Still mourning the sudden death of his wife, Jasper and his daughter, Bella, try to carry on the Christmas tradition of baking cookies. When a new neighbor, Edward, knocks on the door asking to use the phone because he's locked out of his apartment, Jasper's life, as he knows it, takes a positive turn. The two men and little girl develop a sweet friendship that encourages Jasper's and Bella's healing process. It also helps Edward as he tries to move on from a painful past. Even though he harbors a little guilt for having feelings for someone else less than a year after Alice's death, Jasper can't deny his connection to Edward.

There is only one word I can use to describe this story: heartwarming. Not only are the interactions between Edward and Jasper sweet, but the dynamic between the two men and Bella are just as charming. With Christmas literally right around the corner, this is the perfect holiday story filled with hope, healing and love.

A Merry Little Christmas by Darkira

A Merry Little Christmas by Darkira - COMPLETE

A little older and a lot wiser, Jasper and Edward awake on Christmas Eve and think back on the many Christmases they've spent together in the past 25 years. There have been ups and downs, but through it all their love never wavered.

This is one of my absolute favorite Christmas fanfic stories! It's fluffy and sweet, but what I really like about it is that Edward and Jasper are older and are beginning the second stage of their lives; the kids are grown and out of the house and now they can just enjoy each other once again. This is one feel-good story I'm sure you'll love!

Book Review: Inseparable by Chris Scully

4.5 stars

This is an incredibly sweet story about Adam, who is hit by a car and suffers amnesia. His best friend and roommate, Joe, is there to take care for him as he recuperates. Adam feels a strong connection to Joe, that goes beyond friendship, so he sets out to determine if the two of them are lovers. The revelation that Joe is gay, but he is not, surprises him, but only makes him more determined than ever to figure out his own feelings for Joe and the state of their friendship.

I really enjoyed this story; it's sweet, heartwarming and romantic, everything I look for in a Christmas story. Both MCs were very likable characters and Joe's boisterous family was charming as well. The only complaint I have is the small number of typos, but they weren't too distracting. I would definitely read this short story again in the future. :)

Book Review: Greeting Cards by Tinnean

4.5 stars

This is an absolutely adorable and heartwarming story about two men who develop a sweet friendship via greeting cards they mail back and forth to one another. When Ben Haggerty's boyfriend of eight years leaves him with virtually no explanation, he's crushed. Being an electrician, he never felt intelligent or clever enough for his boyfriend, Rick. It also didn't help that Rick constantly put him down and killed his self esteem. After months apart, Ben decides to send Rick a card asking him to come home. However, the card never reaches Rick. Instead it makes its way to Jason Prescott, a graduate student working on his second master's degree. Touched by the heartfelt words in the card, Jason writes back to Ben. Thus begins months of correspondence in which the men learn more about each other and develop something truly special.

Even though my heart broke for Ben for much of the first third of the book, this story turned out to be very sweet and put a smile on my face. Due to the fact that Rick put him down so often for being "blue collar" and unintelligent, Ben suffered from extremely low self esteem, but seeing his confidence slowly build because of Jason was lovely. Rick was the perfect villain and very easy to hate. Jason was so thoughtful, attentive and wonderful, everything Ben needed after being torn down for so long.

If you're looking for a story that will give you the warm and fuzzies, this is the book for you.

On the night before Christmas, Edward and Jacob watch their twins each open a special Christmas Eve gift. The excitement and joy on their kids' faces make everything worthwhile. Little does Jacob know that Edward has a very special gift of his own for his life partner.

Under the Christmas Tree by kitkat681

Under the Christmas Tree by kitkat681 - COMPLETE

Edward has been in love with this close friend and roommate, Carlisle for as long as he can remember. Unfortunately, Carlisle has no idea, so Edward has to stand by as Carlisle goes from woman to woman, his heart breaking a little each time. Edward's life shatters when Carlisle reveals that he's going to propose to his girlfriend, Esme. Will Carlisle ever see what's right in front of him or will Edward be doomed to suffer unrequited love while his best friend builds a life with someone else?

This story put me through the ringer right from the start. Edward's heartbreak was so palpable and I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen between these two guys. Originally a one shot, kitkat681 added a second chapter that's just as angsty and great! Definitely give this story a shot!

Blue Notes by karenec

Blue Notes by karenec - COMPLETE

Edward and Seth are completely enamored with each other. Their love is strong, but unfortunately not strong enough to convince Seth to come out of the closet. He asks Edward to hide their relationship and at first he's fine with it, but after a while the secrecy starts to wear thin. Not wanting to lose the love of his life, but at the same time, not wanting to live a life of only being able to express his love behind closed doors, Edward must make a difficult decision.

Seth is one of my favorite Twilight characters, so it was refreshing to see him portrayed as flawed, scared and indecisive. Usually he's bubbly and perpetually happy, which is great, but seeing this different side was nice for a change.  If you want to read a story about two complex characters who really have to look within themselves to find peace of mind, acceptance and happiness, check out Blue Notes!

Book Review: New York Christmas by R.J. Scott

4.5 stars

This is a very sweet story about two men who reconnect after college and fall in love. Ten years ago, Christian Matthews tutored Daniel Bailey in English literature when he was a TA senior and Daniel was a freshman with little motivation. Chris and Daniel are complete opposites. Chris is nerdy, quiet, and introverted, while Daniel is loud, extroverted and extremely rich. When they cross paths years later, Daniel is more determined than ever to explore the feelings he always had for his tutor. Chris, on the other hand, is still reeling from a recent incident at his former job and struggles with his self-esteem and the loss of the career he loves.

If you're looking for a feel good book that will bring a smile to your face and warm your heart, this is the book for you. The MCs are both extremely likable and endearing characters and I definitely rooted for them throughout the entire story. This is one book I wouldn't mind reading again in the future because it is really great. Plus, how adorable is the cover? It perfectly captures the characters and tone of the book. :)

Save Me From Myself by naelany & stolenxsanity

Save Me From Myself by naelany & stolenxsanity

After enduring physical abuse at the hands of his ex, Royce, Jasper has made great strides in getting his life back on track, especially with the help of his best friend turned lover, Edward. However, when Jasper's past comes back to haunt him unexpectedly, memories of pain, low self-worth and fear bubble to the surface.

This has to be one of my all-time favorite stories in fanfication and I'm surprised it hasn't received more attention. Save Me From Myself immediately draws you in and you'll find yourself emotionally attached to the characters very quickly. I experienced a gamut of emotions; my heart broke for both Jasper and Edward as they tried to move forward and I hated Royce for all of the terrible things he did, both physically and emotionally. Although the tone of the story is rather heavy, it is beautifully poignant and will stay with you long after you're finished.

Unconditional by tiffaninichole

Unconditional by tiffaninichole

Even though he's no longer in an abusive relationship that broke him physicially and mentally, Edward still harbors feelings of worthlessness and can't shake his self deprecating attitude. He shares a modest relationship with Jasper, who loves the skittish man with all his heart. Edward usually shows up at Jasper's doorstep in the middle of the night seeking a safe place and Jasper always lets him in. While Edward is somewhat comfortable with their arrangement, Jasper wants more, so he sets out to prove to Edward that his love is, and will always be, unconditional.

This story is gorgeous! It's angsty, romantic, touching and heartbreaking all at the same time. I liked the way that tiffaninichole showed the stark contrast between how Edward sees himself (disgusting and unworthy) and how Jasper sees him (beautiful and wonderful). The way Edward described himself absolutely broke my heart and I found myself fighting a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Please take a few moments to read this incredible story. You won't be disappointed!

Once We Were Kings by sweetp-1

Banner created by Ms. Ambrosia

Once We Were Kings by sweetp-1

Even though they're mortal enemies, Edward and Seth develop a cautious friendship after being paired together in biology class. After learning more about each other and hanging out on a regular basis, their feelings change from platonic to passionate and romantic. However, their happiness is short lived when Seth imprints...on girl.

This story put me through a roller coaster of emotions. One minute I was happy and warmed by the love that Edward and Seth shared and the next my heart felt like it was being ripped in two. Originally a one shot, I was apprehensive about reading the continuation, fearing even more heartache, but I'm so glad I took a chance.

Once We Were Kings is angst at its finest and sweetp-1 does and wonderful job conveying the characters' feelings so realistically that I actually felt their pain, joy, frustration and anger. I desperately rooted for Edward and Seth's HEA even when it didn't seem feasible. Please take a few moments and read this rather painful, yet beautiful story.

Never Who You Think You Are by SweetMoi

Banner created by Ms. Ambrosia

Never Who You Think You Are by SweetMoi - COMPLETE

As a young teenager, Seth always admired his older sister's friend, Edward. He was popular, charming and knew exactly what he wanted in life. Years later, Seth returns home and runs into his former hero and crush in the most unexpected of places. Still enamored with the thought of Edward, Seth ignores everyone, including the man who loves him, in order to spend time with his hero. Unfortunately, things aren't always what they seem and Seth learns the hard way that his childhood crush is a completely different person than the one he knew so many years before.

I couldn't help but become engrossed in this story. Collaborators sweetp-1 and faite-comme-moi created characters that had me glued to my computer wondering what would happen next. Edward is not a very likable character, and on more than one occasion I wanted to shake Seth for being so stupid, naive and careless. I think the stand out character in this story is Riley. However, if you want to know more about him and how he fits into this tale, read this one shot! You won't be disappointed!

Author Spotlight: Kim Fielding, Author of New Release, Brute

Recently I had the awesome opportunity to interview author Kim Fielding! Her new book, Brute, is out today and looks great!

Check out out interview below!

Your latest book, Brute, tells the story of a man who not only becomes aware of his self worth, but also finds love. How did you come up with this character and the story concept?

Almost all my characters and stories just seem to pop into my head. This story started a little backwards, actually. I thought of a man who dreamt other people’s deaths. Which would be horrible enough as it is, but this poor guy was locked in a prison in utter misery. I began to wonder why. And then I started to wonder what it would be like to have to guard this prisoner, and how that kind of guard duty might affect a man.

You often write about characters who overcome some sort of disability (physical, mental, etc.) or hindrance. Is this something you personally identify with? How so?

I think we all have obstacles to overcome. Some are larger than others, of course. Personally, I’ve been tremendously lucky, but I’ve faced my own struggles too. Not with a true disability—unless you count being only 5 feet tall as a disability!—but with various things life’s thrown in my path. I love the idea that heroes don’t have to be perfect, and that however imperfect people are, they can still be heroic—and still find love. I’ve received some emails from readers with disabilities, telling me how much they enjoyed finding a hero who’s disabled. That’s really made me feel proud.

Claiming Souls by MyTwiDreams

Claiming Souls by MyTwiDreams

Edward loves his mate. That's why he has to dispose of the men who dare touch his beautiful and pure Carlisle. Edward feels no remorse because he feels it's all for the best. Carlisle will be his one day, but until then, Edward will wait in the shadows, watch his beloved and kill those who get too close.

Carlisle constantly struggles with his feelings and urges. Being homosexual in the early 20th century could not only ruin his reputation, but also potentially have him killed. Occasionally he comes across a man who shares his same desires and gives in. However, shame consumes him afterwards. It's his dreams of a beautiful angel who provides a little solace, and night after night he wishes his angel were real.

I was absolutely blown away by this story. MyTwiDreams describes the emotions of Edward and Carlisle so effectively that you can almost feel the fear, frustration, desire, anger, lust and love swirling around you. Seeing a dark Edward and human Carlisle was a much welcomed and refreshing twist. Although great as it is, I hope MyTwiDreams will consider continuing this story because I can't get enough of these complex characters.

Book Review: Loving Samuel by Martin Delacroix

2.5 stars

Nick leads a pretty solitary life in Florida, but he chooses to live that way. He's witnessed such skewed and warped examples of love and commitment that he wants none of it, content with one-night stands and never getting too close. Even though loneliness often gets to him, he'd rather have that than a broken heart, a bruised face or a jealous stalker waiting in the wings. While on a surfing trip in Costa Rica, Nick meets Samuel, a gorgeous guy who makes him feel and want things he's never wanted before. After a passionate and life-changing night together, Samuel disappears, leaving Nick heartbroken and even more determined to never give his heart to another.

Although quite short, this novella is filled with angst, drama and a little romance. I occasionally found it difficult to follow the story because of typos, and became a little frustrated with the repetitiveness of the sex scenes. The same terms, phrases and descriptions were used over and over.

I also found it very difficult to sympathize Samuel's situation. Domestic violence is a very difficult thing to overcome, but I think Samuel substituted one unhealthy relationship with another. The only difference was that there was no violence involved with Nick. Samuel was very needy, dependent and at times very selfish. At one point he seemed to be progressing and the next he regressed and was falling back into the same patterns. I truly believe he thought that having Nick nearby would solve all his problems; instead it only created new ones for Nick. It was weird how Nick ended up being involved with someone who embodied everything he didn't want in a relationship, which is very sad.

The Whipping Boy by Fr333bird & Beckybrit

The Whipping Boy by Fr333bird & Beckybrit

Edward watches helplessly as Marcus viciously whips and tortures his friend, Seth, seeking information about the whereabouts of his daughter. Even though it pains him to see his friend hurt, he cannot and will not give up his daughter. She is the only piece of Bella that Edward has left after she was killed during the battle with the Volturi. Seth is willing to do whatever it takes to protect Edward because his feelings run much deeper. In his grief, will Edward be able to see beyond his friendship with the young wolf and the love behind Seth's actions?

When I first read this story last year, I immediately fell in love with it. There are many, many fanfic stories that I love, but this one seemed to resonate with me in a way that others haven't. The selfless love that Seth felt for Edward and their mutual admiration is beautiful, even amongst the ugliness they endure at the hands of Marcus and the Volturi guards. This story is just plain good and I would highly encourage all slash lovers to give it a shot.

It's You by Twilightobsessed09

It's You by Twilightobsessed09

As Edward prepares to walk down the aisle to marry the love of his life, thinks fondly on his relationship with Jasper and they made it to this wonderful day.

If you want to read something so incredibly romantic and sweet, this is the story for you. It was impossible for my heart not to melt as Edward retold the story of how he and Jasper first met, became friends and eventually fell in love. Edward is a complete sweetheart that you'll fall in love with immediately, and Jasper is so perfectly suited for Edward that you'll swoon. Definitely check out this beautifully written story about two people who find that special, all-encompassing love.

Check out this snippet...

The cheers of our guests were overlapping, but the touch of his lips made the cheerful noise fade away.

He moved away, sighing before his face lit up with a smile. “It was you.”

“What?” I whispered curiously.

“I always felt like I was waiting for something. Now I know what it was,” he said with a smile. “It was you.”

*swoon* :)

That One in a Million Guy by ShadowFin

That One in a Million Guy by ShadowFin - COMPLETE

Seth has not only admired Jacob from a far, but he's also harbored a major crush on him. When Jacob comes out of the closet to all his friends and family, Seth is surprised and a little hopeful. However, he truly doubts that someone like Jacob could ever be interested in him even though Jake reveals that he has his eyes set on someone who could be that "one in a million". When Seth discovers the object of his affection in a precarious position with Paul, his world crumbles. Will Jake be able soothe his heartache or will Seth push him away?

This story is absolutely adorable. Seth made me smile and Jake melted my heart. I found myself rooting for Seth and hoping he'd get his happily ever after. I don't want to give too much away, but this one shot will definitely give you the warm and fuzzies.

Book Review: Men of Smithfield: Seth and David by L.B. Gregg

2.5 stars

Seth's life has recently been turned upside down when his sister passes away and he gains custody of his young niece. Things become even more complicated when he finds himself attracted to masseur/waiter, David. Their romance is threatened by Seth's constant judgmental attitude and people from the past reappearing to stir things up.

I had a hard time feeling the connection between Seth and David. First of all, Seth was a very unlikable character, and I don't think I even liked him by the end. David was very nice and seemed like an all around good guy, flaws and all, but I just couldn't see what in the world he liked about Seth. The kids were sweet and their interactions with both David and Seth were cute.

Unfortunately, I could not fully get into this book because the romance seemed a little forced, and I didn't believe that these men cared anything for each other beyond the physical.

This ARC was provided to me by the publisher via Netgalley.

For What It's Worth by Frankielynn

For What It's Worth by Frankielynn

Jasper lives a lonely existence even though he has all of the fame and adoration he could ever dream of. However, the love and adoration of one person in particular is no longer there. As he bears his soul and broken heart for his fans, Jasper relives memories of pain and joy while continuing to scan the crowd for the one person he needs most.

This is a beautiful one shot. The way Frankielynn described both Jasper's and Edward's pain broke my heart, but at the same time I had a little spark of hope that they would find their way to each other again. If you're in the mood for an angsty, yet beautifully written story, this one is for you!

Enduring Love by Ikuinen Talvi

Enduring Love by Ikuinen Talvi

When Seth and Jasper meet, they have instant chemistry. Soon their close friendship turns into love, but a tragedy that leaves Jasper fighting for his life changes everything. When the only way to save Jasper is to turn him into a vampire, shape shifter Seth must deal with the reality that the love of his life will now be his mortal enemy. Will their relationship survive or will they be doomed to stay on opposite sides forever?

Seth and Jasper are probably my favorite characters in the entire Twilight series, so reading a story in which they are together is perfection in my eyes. Enduring Love is a sweet, fluffy story that will warm your heart, but also has a good amount of angst and balance it all out. One aspact that I particularly like is that Seth is described as more assertive and dominant for a change. So often Seth is viewed as the kindhearted little brother who doesn't ruffle feathers and stays in the background. In this story we get to see more of his caring and protective demeanor.

While there are a few typos here and there, they never distract from the overall loveliness of the story. Definitely check this one out! :)

The Valley of Your Heart by rhythm junkie

The Valley of your Heart by rhythm junkie - COMPLETE

**I originally wrote this review about a year and half ago for the blog Jasper's Darlins. rhythm junkie recently completed the story and I wanted to highlight it once more.**

This incredible story follows the friendship between Jasper and Edward as they grow from children into young men.

The story starts out in Texas where both the Whitlock and Cullen families reside. Being small, awkward and new to the area, Edward is immediately targeted by bullies. Jasper defends him, nearly getting expelled, and they’re inseparable from then on. When Carlisle is offered a new job in Forks, Washington, the Cullen family packs up and leaves, separating the two best friends.

Due to a tragic event, Jasper comes to live with the Cullens for short period, but is forced to return to Texas to live with distant relatives, ripping the boys apart once again. During their time apart, Jasper endures horrible abuse and slowly changes from the happy go-lucky boy he once was into a quiet withdrawn young man. Finally escaping his personal hell, Jasper ends up on Edward’s doorstep.

Going For It by angelbethy

Going For It by angelbethy - COMPLETE

When Edward, Jasper and their friends are invited to a frat party, something none of them have ever done in the past, they are reluctant, but excited. They're a group of nerds who are a little awkward, dress kind of badly and love World of Warcraft. Edward and Jasper have been best friends since freshman year, but Jasper harbors a secret that could potentially destroy everything they've built over the past three years. Will Edward be able to accept Jasper's secret?

I thought Going For It was absolutely adorable. It's so nice to see a nerdy Edward and Jasper and I couldn't help but smile at their antics. When Jasper's secret is reveled, I could feel his discomfort, panic and fear that he'd lose his best friend and the only person who ever really understood him. angelbethy mixes just the right amout of fluff, angst, humor and heat. Definitely check out this super sweet one shot! You won't be disappointed.

When Jacob suddenly imprints on Edward, not only his enemy because he is a vampire, but also for the fact that he stole the girl he loved, all hell breaks loose in his life. He keeps the imprint a secret from just about everyone, but especially Edward. They form a strained acquaintanceship after a painful tragedy, but soon Jacob can no longer deny his feelings for the vampire. Will they find their happily ever after or be doomed to pain and heartache?

I'm already a fan of Hank Lady's stories. Healing a Damaged Soul is a current favorite of mine, so I was excited when I discovered this new one. Once again Hank's Lady creates characters that have a realness to them, making me view them more as two individuals rather than mythological creatures (a vampire and shape shifter) living in a fantasy world. The emotions Edward and Jacob experience come across as very effectively and I find myself waiting with bated breath for each new chapter. We're still pretty early in the story, so I'm sure Hanks Lady has a lot in store for these two characters. I can't wait!

Meant to Be by Fr333bird

Meant to Be by Fr333bird - COMPLETE

Seth and Riley have an incredible relationship. They get along well, share the same interests and care about each other very much. When tragedy strikes, the two young men must figure out how they will overcome their seemingly insurmountable obstacles and get back to being two people in love.

When I first read this story, I immediately fell in love with both Seth and Riley, two of my favorite characters in the Twilight universe. I smiled during their happy moments and my heart broke when they experience pain, both physically and emotionally. I don't want to give too much away, but if you're looking for a story that will hold your attention, break your heart and warm it all at the same time, check out Meant to Be. You won't be disappointed!

Little Blue Heart by edwardsisobel

Little Blue Heart by edwardsisobel - COMPLETE

Edward, a shy, nerdy scientist, spends his time doing experiments in a lab, collecting comic books and obsessing over gay porn star, Jazz Hale. He enjoys everything about him, especially his ass, and often fantasizes what it would be like if he ever came face to face with the sexy blond.

When he attends Comic Con with an online friend he's grown very close to, his life as he knows it changes. Is it for the good or the bad? You'll just have to read to find out! ;p

I thought this story was absolutely delightful! Both Edward and Jasper are very likeable characters that you can't help but root for. Even though the story consists of only three chapters, edwardsisobel created a world and characters that are well-developed and absolutely adorable. If you love nerdy guys who get their happily every after, which I definitely do, check out this sweet story!

Beside You by Mrs. Agget

Beside You by Mrs. Agget

Derek Morgan arrives at his boyfriend's home to find him broken and suffering. Even though Reid tells him to leave him be, he refuses to leave his side during one of Reid's darkest and most painful experiences.

This was the first Criminal Minds fanfic I've ever read, and I have to say I rather enjoyed it! Mrs. Agget did a great job of not only portraying the turmoil and frustration exhibited by both characters, but also showing the great love they have for one another. I will definitely check out more Moran/Reid slash in the future, so thank you, Mrs. Agget, for introducing it to me. :)

Book Review: The Sweet One by Andi Anderson

Noah is an angel charged with looking after his Sweet One, Micah. Throughout Micah's life, Noah has watched over him, comforted him and loved him. When Noah breaks a major rule in order to prevent a tragedy, he and Micah must deal with the consequences.

I thought this was an absolutely charming story. I already have a soft spot for stories featuring angels and this one didn't let me down. Noah's quiet and unflinching love for his charge was heartwarming and brought a smile to my face. Even though this is a relatively short story, I immediately feel in love with these two characters and hoped they received the HEA they deserved.

The writing seemed a little choppy at times, but it didn't detract too much from the beautiful love story.

Fallen Angel by jaydogrut

Fallen Angel by jaydogrut - COMPLETE

In this sequel For the Love of an Angel, we find Edward and Jasper receiving a second chance at love. The only caveat is that they don't know one another and literally have to start from scratch. Some may think this will be easy since they both live in the same town and attend the same school, but Edward is still considering himself straight and is in a relationship with Bella. Even with the help of Angel Emmett, will the boys find each other and finally live the life that was tragically ripped away from them?

While this story isn't quite as angsty as For the Love of an Angel, it does have its moments when you think "this is never going to happen". :( However, Jay inserts a twist and things seemingly start to fall into place. Readers, who already hated Jasper's parents from the last story, will get an even better look at the dysfuction and unacceptance he had to deal with growing up.

Obviously I'm not going to give away the ending, but I do hope you'll give this story a try. It embodies all of the great things you look for in a story: angst, redemption, love and triumph. Just keep in mind that you'll definitely need to read For the Love of an Angel first in order to fully understand what's going on.

For the Love of an Angel by jaydogrut

For the Love of an Angel by jaydogrut - COMPLETE

After marrying and setting off for their honeymoon, Edward and Jasper are in a horrific accident with tragic results. Edward is now gone and Jasper must deal with the aftermath. Will Jasper be able to carry on without the love of his life or will he succumb to the severe pain and depression knowing that their time together was cut short? All the while an angel is looking out for him, devastated that he can't comfort the man he loves so dearly.

When I read this story last year, I was immediately captivated. The pain that both Jasper and Edward feel is so palpable that I had to take breaks from the story just so I could gather myself and my emotions. Not only do readers get to watch the tragic love story between the two men, but they also get thrown into a "whodunit" mystery that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Jay, one of the few male fanfiction writers in the Twilight fandom, has written a great story that will keep you guessing, wishing and hoping until the very end.

Make you sure you have Kleenex available because this is one heartbreaking, angst-filled story. However, don't let that deter you from reading. It's definitely worth your while.

Book Review: Men of Smithfield: Adam and Holden by L.B. Gregg

Former tv star and adventurer, Holden Xavier Worthington, has lived a privileged life. He came from old money and built a rather profitable career on tv and in publishing. In the midst of all this wealth, adventure and seeming happiness, Holden lives with crippling agoraphobia; only seeing the outside world from the safety of his 9,000 square foot mansion. When the object of his desires, gardner Adam Morgan, digs up a dead body behind his shed, Holden embarks on an adventure he never dreamed of taking.

I liked this story for the most part. The characters were well developed and complex. The blatant snobbery exhibited by the townspeople, and even Holden himself, irked me. I thought people were a little too quick to blame Adam for every little thing because of his past and the fact that he was not of the same social class. Approximately 75% into the book, the story started to lag a bit and I yeared for the mystery be solved so the characters could finally move on. I understand that we had to suspect everyone, but after a while it became tedious wondering which family member, ex-boyfriend, family friend or new lover could be the murderer.

Even though many of the secondary characters annoyed me to no end, I did enjoy seeing the relationship between Holden and Adam develop. I think that was the absolute best part of the tale. The mystery was interesting, but, like I said before, it dragged a little too much for my liking.

3.5 stars

The Elevator Ride by TheDarknessFallingStar

The Elevator Ride by TheDarknessFallingStar

Edward and Jasper have been admiring each other from afar for quite a while. However, Edward's extreme shyness and the fact that Jasper is the boss put a damper on guys acting on their attraction for one another. With the help of some meddling friends, Jasper and Edward finally let go and give in.

This story is definitely one you don't want to skip. I loved watching Edward and Jasper dance around each other; both wanting the other desperately, but neither doing so until they received a slight nudge from their friends. I don't want to give anything away, but so far the elevator ride is VERY NICE! Yum!

Check out this steamy story! You won't be disappointed!

Carousels and Wishing Wells by KellanCougar

The bright lights and happy faces of the patrons around him bring some semblance of joy, but not enough to cure his broken heart. The immediate physical chemistry Emmett shares with Edward is unparalleled, but it's the emotional connection that's frightening in its intensity. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Come Away With Me by kerigocrazy

Come Away With Me by kerigocrazy - COMPLETE

Quil and Embry have always relied on each other. Quil is Embry's shoulder to cry on when he's treated as a outcast because of his lineage; and Embry supports his best friend as he tries to deal with imprinting on a toddler. At first the two men seek each other out for physical release, but soon their feelings change and revelations are made.

This is an absolutely lovely story that I would strongly encourage everyone read, even if you're not into wolfpack stories. The connection Quil and Embry share is heartwarming and the last couple of paragraphs gave me the warm and fuzzies.

Come Away With Me also came in first place in the Slash Backslash 4.0 contest, so definitely show kerigocrazy a little love and check out her incredible love story.

Where's Freedom? by Ratts

Where's Freedom? by Ratts

In this sequel to Whispering Heart, we find scene stealer, Ryan, as a 16-year-old dealing with normal teenage issues. However, he's also dealing with the loss of his his beloved Paul, who left him seven years prior. Through it all, Ryan's love for the troubled wolf never wavers and he hopes and prays that someday Paul will return to him.

Where's Freedom is a wonderful stoy that highlights the relationship between Jacob and Edward's son, Ryan, and the angry wolf, Paul. In Whispering Heart, we caught glimpses of their relationship, but because of Ryan's age and Paul's haunting past and inability to move forward, we only saw them interact on a platonic level. Now Ryan is older, but Paul is no less troubled.

There are so many twists and turns in this story that you won't know what to expect next, but that's one of the great things about this story. Just when you think you have it all figured out, something happens that makes you question everything. This go round, the scene stealer is definitely James, the adorable human who infiltrates the royal family and becomes an integral part of many lives.

I can't express how wonderful this story is. Please check it out for yourself! You won't be disappointed!

Tempting Nerdy Expectations by Lis123

Tempting Nerdy Expectations by Lis123

Nerdy and quiet, Edward doesn't get out much. In an effort to pull her brother out of his shell, and the house, Alice enlists the help of her popular friend, Jasper. As the two young men get to know each other, Jasper slowly teaches Edward how to become more confident and assertive. Something Jasper did not expect were his growing feelings towards the ugly duckling who turned into a swan right before his very eyes.

This is a sweet drabble-esque story that will bring a smile to your face. Edward is absolutely adorable and Jasper will make you swoon. You don't want to miss out on this delightful story!

Whispering Heart by Ratts

Whispering Heart by Ratts - COMPLETE

Jacob is a spoiled, narcissistic, selfish prince. He only does things for his own enjoyment and gain and doesn't care who he steps on in the process. When he buys a vampire at slave auction, something inside of him almost instantly shifts. Kind-hearted and quiet, Edward resigns to his fate as a slave to the Alpha prince. However, over time the two men develop an uneasy friendship and camaraderie that slowly evolves into something much more.

I was captivated by this story when I read it. Jacob is such an unlikable character. He's mean, impatient and an all around jerk. However, Edward slowly chips away at his facade and teaches Jacob some lessons that not only make him a better wolf, but a better Alpha to his subjects.

Definitely check out this story! I know you'll really enjoy it! Oh, and also pay attention to the delightful character, Ryan. He will capture your heart immediately.

Book Review: Angel's Redemption by Andi Anderson

I've enjoyed all of the Men of Charlestown books I've read so far and this one is no exception. I remember feeling so bad for Jackson at the end of Daniel's Dream (Men of Charlestown), seeing him mourning the death of his husband. Knowing that he had his own book excited me and I'm so glad I read this charming story. Both Jackson and Elijah have been through their fair share of pain, but through each other's love and acceptance, they rise above the pain and find true love in the process. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance and endearing characters (Shiloh was absolutely delightful).
